Initiative Taken by AIMSR College During COVID-19

The COVID-19 crisis has affected the whole world. Even though everything is opening up slowly, the effects of the crisis will be felt for a long time. The education sector was one of the most badly affected sectors. Lectures canceled, exams postponed, colleges shut indefinitely - students suffered a lot because of the crisis. The whole nation came to standstill for 3 months. 

Though education in most places was shut, colleges like AIMSR took some initiatives that ensured there was minimal impact on education, and the students remained safe. AIMSR has always put the students before everything else, and during the crisis as well, we ensured our students got all the support required. 

Initiatives Taken by AIMSR Mumbai College

In these difficult times, the initiative taken by AIMSR has been a relief for the students. Here some of these initiatives. 

COVID19 Awareness

Awareness is the first step in our fight against COVID-19. AIMSR ensured that all our students were aware of the disease. On their website, the first thing to pop-up is a page that takes students to a circular issued by the University Grants Commission and the Ministry of Human Resources Development. The circular is about the Mental Health & Well-being of Students during and after the COVID-19 outbreak. It contains advisories on setting up helplines, the formation of help groups, mentoring, website links, and video links to all the information and help needed on COVID-19.  

Students were provided all the information they need to know and prevent getting COVID-19. AIMSR also created online payment platforms for students wanting to pay their fees, so students need not come in contact with anyone, or even leave the safety of their homes for that matter. Knowing all that you can do to prevent COVID-19 like regularly washing hands, wearing face masks while stepping out, keeping a distance of six feet, disinfecting surfaces - students were made aware of all these things well in advance. 

Student Counselling

Students are some of the most under pressure individuals in the country. Along with the pressures of education, and parental expectations, they now also have to deal with COVID-19 and lockdown problems. Staying at home without much human interaction or contact can have a bad effect on your mental health. Counselling is the only way students can deal with this issue. 

AIMSR has made their students aware of all the dedicated helpline numbers that are available for student counselling. During the time of crisis, the faculty members of AIMSR have also doubled up as student counsellors and are available to the students at all times. Students can contact them on email, text, and even on direct phone calls. This has resulted in students tiding over the worst phase and is okay 

Online Classes

Education has greatly suffered. Since everyone was under lockdown, classes were shut. The only solution to this problem is online classes. Through platforms like Zoom, faculty are now able to hold online classes, complete the required curriculum, and even give students assignments and homework. All one needs is a PC with a webcam and an internet connection. 

Students of AIMSR also got the benefit of online classes. These classes were conducted regularly, and students' education did not suffer. AIMSR students are already issued high-quality laptops, so getting access to the online classes was not a problem for anyone. AIMSR faculty members are tech-savvy and had no problems taking classes online. During this difficult time, AIMSR ensured students continued to receive their education. 

About Exam 

Most college exams in the state have been postponed. AIMSR has also postponed all exams and is awaiting the State Government’s directives on the exam. All of AIMSR’s students have been informed of the postponement and are regularly updated on the current situation. Once the government permits to conduct exams, AIMSR will follow all safety rules and regulations for their students’ health. 

New Initiative by AIMSR College

AIMSR has taken all of the above initiatives mentioned for the health and safety of its students. However, the management has gone the extra mile and has taken a few more initiatives. AIMSR now has a dynamic website that has everything the students want. From guidance on COVID-19 to paying fees online, the new website is extremely convenient. Another initiative is an AI assistant on the website. This feature again is aimed at helping AIMSR students and others who visit the website. 

The COVID-19 crisis has been a bad time for everyone, but a few initiatives by AIMSr has certainly made life easy for their students. This shows the commitment they have always promised. Hopefully, the nation gets back on track soon and students can get back to their normal routines.
